Centerline taji pole
Centerline or Taiji Pole as the core of being
Centerline or Taiji Pole
The centerline of the body is from the top of the head (baihui) to the lowest part of the upper body(huiyin). Visualize it as a string your body is attached to the blue sky thru your body all the way down to the center of the earth. The balance you keep with the gravitiy of the earth. We normally take walking, standing, sitting for granted in our daily lifes but if you give more attention to this centerline from an inside qigong state and starti creating some awareness there is a lot to discover. There is quite some philosophical mystics around the Taiji Pole. Such as being the central place of your deeper or true self. Your whole life evolves around the Taiji Pole. Woven around the Taiji Pole. The center of your body , no left or right or above or below or back or front…. the middle.
Over the years I was becoming more aware of the Taiji Pole and that it is very much used in other spiritual practices other then Zhineng Qigong. In Zazen for instance, Zen buddhist sitting meditation, The physical sitting posture is the core of the practice and a softly straightened back(spine) is closely related to the centerline or Taiji Pole. In Saitpatthana (Vipassana), which is much less focused on physical posture, practitioners still pay attention to the centerline or Taiji Pole. By pulling the chin in and push the crown up.
So standing or sitting and becoming aware of the centerline/Taiji Pole is a core meditation practice as well as being fundamental to Qigong practice.
